How to Honour your Mother on your Wedding Day

Usually, mothers help their daughters with their wedding and prepare them for the next chapter of their lives. But on the big day, the fathers get all the attention with giving the bride away and the father-daughter dance, which seems a bit unfair to the mothers.

Consequently, we’ve prepared 5 different ways you could honor your mother, from private to public moments.

Use something of hers on your day

You could borrow something from her wedding day like her dress, veil, pin, cake topper, jewellery, or even display her wedding photo. It doesn’t even have to be from her wedding, but wearing, carrying or using anything of hers on your big day will surely mean a lot to her.

Have her give you away

Normally, the father of the bride is the one who gives her away. That doesn’t have to change, but why not give them both the chance to walk you to your groom. You can have your dad on one arm and your mum on the other or you could have her walk you half way to your dad before he gives you away. Including her in that moment is a special way to show her how much she means to you.

Give her some flowers

Even though it’s your special day, your mother should stand out, as well. Give her a small bouquet to carry or a wrist corsage with the same flowers from your bouquet, or even better make it more special by using her favourite blooms.

Publicly thank her

Show her your gratitude by taking it a step further and publicly thank her with a short speech or dedicate a song to her or do both!

Give her a personalized gift

Something you know she will love and use. It could be something as simple as a framed photo of the two of you, a thank you note (maybe even the speech you prepared for her at your wedding), something for her house, or jewellery.

Whatever you decide to do we are sure she’ll love it and appreciate the thought.
