Q1: What are hair treatments? (Keratin, Protein, Botox, Collagen)

Hair treatments are natural components all revolving around the same concept of utilizing natural basic hair composition elements extracted from natural animal and plant sources. These are combined in various formulas including natural oils, herbs, collagen, amino acids, antioxidants, etc., and sealing them back into and onto the hair through the heat of flat iron.  It is just putting more of it back into the hair and scalp to make it healthier & stronger! The basic objective is to improve the hair condition, quality, texture and overall health, while softening and soothing the hair, and improving its texture, shine, and added volume. Treatments eliminate frizz up to 70-90% and relatively weaken the curl up60-100% on average, depending on the hair texture, nature, condition, and curl type

Keratin is a rebuilding and reconditioning treatment made of keratin -the same material our skin and nails are already made of- which is from plants, oil extracts and collagen. The formula restores and restructures hair by infusing a special blend of natural keratin deep into the damaged cuticle by the heat of the flat iron to relax the hair’s sub-cuticle layer.

Protein is based on the same concept as keratin. The unique treatment is formulated with magnesium, clay, and an intensive combination of modified proteins that may include keratin, L-cysteine, and amino acids, which fuse into the hair with the application of heat. Protein has an additional effect on drastically reducing hair breakage.

Hair Botox is the latest hair treatment advancement that reconstructs the hair, producing frizz-free locks. The secret of Hair Botox is the organic microspheres which are designed to determine the degree of absorption, allowing the vitamins, antioxidants and proteins to deeply penetrate the hair providing incredible results.  Hair Botox contains a protein rich formula which fixes the imperfections in each individual strand of hair with active variety of ingredients including proteins, caviar oil, collagen, vitamins, antioxidants, natural acids, and healing.

Q2: Which one is the best for hair types? And are there a certain type of hair doesn’t need any of them?

There is nothing as such. There are no best hair treatments in absolute terms; the right question is; what is the most suitable treatment for my hair, curl type and condition, which is something to be determined by the Hair Treatment Specialist. The best treatment in general is a high quality, safe, reputable brand, which is the job of the Hair Specialist to research, verify, and test before applying to the end user.

Q3: What if a girl doesn’t want to get her hair straight, she like it to be a wavy or curly hair but in the same time vital and bright?

This is highly achievable! Formulas with less concentration in addition to less intensive application techniques are used in this case.  At Gloria Egypt, we are able to achieve this for lots of customers. The secret is; using the right product and application technique.

Q4: How many days after applying Keratin Treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?

The latest and most advanced treatment formulas are now instantly washed right after the treatment application process is completed, so you get your hair washed and can see the results in the same session before your leave.  The 2 and 3 day wash treatments are no longer applied in most of the high end places since the new formulas achieve the same result if not better, more practical and more convenient context in less time.

Q5: Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?

If you plan to cut off a big part of your hair, it is recommended that you do that before the treatment so you don’t consume more time and product, thus, more money over application of a part that you plan to remove anyway.  If it’s just trimming, this could be done after the treatment after the hair has taken its new final shape.

Q6: Are there any side effects of each of them as it is said that it’s harmful especially for pregnant or nursing women?

There are no proven harmful or side effects. It is advised that you consult with your doctor first, though!  I would highly recommend you apply it after the 3rd month with instant products and make sure the treatment you are applying is of a safe, very high quality and from a trusted source.

Q7: Can the Keratin be performed while taking prescriptions medications?

There is usually no interference between treatments and medications, however, it is highly recommended for patients with uncommon medical cases to consult with their doctors before applying the treatment.

Q8: How can we distinguish between the good product and the low quality one?

The hair treatments industry has become crazy and there are lots of commercial products in the market. The end user won’t be able to distinguish between a good and a bad product; it’s not that easy!  It is best to go to a trusted professional treatment provider as we do lots of research, testing and validations before incorporating the products including verifying the products’ safety certifications form the municipalities of the countries where they are manufactured and distributed.  However, an obvious indication is the amount of fumes coming out of the product while processed.  In general, I always say; the price of using a bad and likely cheap product is way higher than the cost of a good product from a trusted source.

Q9: How long does Keratin last in the hair?

Depending on the hair texture, curl type, and strength of treatment.  Curls or waves start to come back sooner on virgin hair, and gradually all other processed hair, usually between 4 to 6 months, provided you follow all after care instructions. However, it takes quite a bit longer for the effect to totally fade out of your hair. The treatment can be repeated as often as every 4-6 weeks if you so desire.

It is recommended that you use the after care products, particularly the free Sulphate and Chloride Shampoo & Conditioner, for the treatment to stay longer in your hair.

Q10: Is it useful to use Keratin for dyed hair?

As a matter of fact, it is recommended to have keratin treatment done directly after coloring or chemically treating your hair. The color will be sealed in, leaving your hair vibrant and extending the life of the color.  If done on the same day, do not condition after shampooing the color out.

Q11: What are your advices before and after keratin treatment?

There are no requirements before applying the treatment. After application;

  1. Do not use regular shampoos and conditioners. You should only use Sulphate-free and Chloride-free ones. Chloride and Sulphate are the first enemy of treatment as they pull the Keratin out of the hair.
  2. Do not color your hair before 2 weeks after applying the treatment and only with ammonia free dyes.  Ammonia is the second enemy of treatment as it pulls it out of the hair.  Similarly, do not bleach your hair or apply highlights; these will totally pull the treatment out of the hair, not to mention their damaging effect.
  3. Do not wash your hair daily; once or twice per week maximum; the more you wash the more the treatment pulls out of the hair, not to mention the effect of frequent wash on hair dryness and loss.
  4. Do not expose to sea or poolwater before 2 weeks from applying the treatment. And before you get into the water make sure to wet your hair and apply conditioner to minimize the impact of the chlorides in the water on the treatment

Q12: For the bride, when can she do it?

Ideally 2 weeks before the wedding date to allow the treatment to settle properly into the hair before exposing it to frequent washing or sea/pool water.

Q13: Do you have any tips or something you would to say?

Hair is made from the combination of a complex natural protein called keratin and moisture.

In normal healthy hair, keratin accounts for about 90% of the structure and moisture the remaining 10%. Keratin is principally responsible for the hair's strength and resistance to general wear, while moisture is mostly responsible for its elasticity, flexibility, softness and manageability.

The correct balance of protein and moisture is essential for healthy, shiny hair.

Unfortunately, hair keratin is damaged and moisture can be depleted by straighteners, colours, perms, blow-drying, the sun, pollution, pool chemicals, and even everyday wear and tear, like brushing.

The damage can make the hair feel coarse, look out of condition and become difficult to manage and style. Under an electron microscope, this damage can be recognised in the form of cracks, splits, and craters in the hair, as can be seen in this highly magnified hair strand.

Here comes the role of the magic invention called Hair Treatments… Just do it the right way!
