Here’s What You Need to Bring When Shopping for Your Wedding Dress!

Shopping for your wedding gown is one of the most memorable occasions. However, it requires careful planning and some vital basics to feel ready for the dressing room. Once you’ve chosen the boutique you want to visit and saved some photos of your favorite wedding dresses on Pinterest and Instagram, it is time to prepare what you need to take with you to the salon.

White or Nude Undergarments

Even though it is fun to wear a neon pink bra, now is not the proper time for it. When you put on wedding dresses for the first time, you need to live the full experience and get an idea of how you will look on your big day. Certainly, floral underwear or a bra in a bright shade won’t help you achieve this experience. It is best to bring the undergarments you intend to wear on your wedding day to see how the dress will look. If you’re looking for a sheer-top dress, make sure you bring a skin-colored or strapless bra.

Many brides leave the shoe shopping till the end of the preparation period. By doing this, you may risk that your shoes don’t fit the dress. In addition, it is important to know the height you plan to wear. That’s why experts suggest that you buy the wedding shoes first then the dress. In the worst-case scenario, you can bring another pair of shoes of the same height to get an idea of how the dress will look like.

Inspiration Pictures

As a bride, you’re probably obsessed with social media, following designers’ accounts, saving screenshots, and creating an idea of what you like and what is a no-no. This is actually very smart; it is important to figure out your preferred style before you schedule your bridal salon appointment. The last thing you want to do is to stand in the middle of the boutique staring at thousands of options, not knowing what to choose.

Questions for the Stylist

After showing your inspiration photos to the stylist, she is going to shower you with lots of dresses similar to the ones you like. It is important to prepare questions beforehand in regards to adjusting the dress. For example, if you like a sweetheart neckline dress and you’re a hijabi, you should ask her if the dress can be adjusted to cover your body. You should also ask about the material that will be used to modify the dress. If the designer is in the salon, don’t hesitate to approach them and ask the questions you’ve prepared ahead. If you want, you can ask whether they can apply some other modifications to the dress you like.

Supportive Entourage

That’s more of a “who” than a “what” to bring to your dress shopping, but you get the drift. Because your wedding dress shopping is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you should bring supportive people with you to your appointment. Your mom’s opinion matters the most, of course, so she definitely tops the list. However, if your mom wants you to bring your aunties and cousins and you don’t feel like having them with you on this special day, don’t bring them! Just tell mom that you need a few people whose opinions really matter the most. Moreover, bringing plenty of people to your appointment can cause a clash of opinions, which may ruin your whole experience.
